That’s it! No more Ho-Ho-Ho it’s Christmas* time. Christmas is over. Haven’t really started for good and it was over. When you hope for big family gatherings and what you get is the same thing for last few years.
How about not to get into depressing state and try to find something positive in Christmas experience.
I found this:
- for those who celebrate this holiday, this is a great religious time. The important moment at the end of the year filled with hope and joy.
- for those who do not celebrate the religious aspect of Christmas, this is the time to search for awesome holiday decorations (ok, so I made that up just because I like it).
- for some, it’s just a great opportunity to enjoy that time with family and friends.
And yes, there’s a negative aspect to it as well:
- LONELINESS. In the big Christmas fervor, enthusiasm, and eagerness, it’s so easy not to notice that there are people near us who feel lonely during that special time.
- overwhelming feeling to “keep up with the Joneses” (or is it “Kardashians” now?!). That might result in debts at the end of the year that needs to be paid by at some point.
Whatever reason you have to celebrate or to feel depressed is important because it’s YOUR reason. I used to like Christmas, my childhood memories are filled with happiness around that time of the year. And I’m THANKFUL for those memories simply because I know there are many people who didn’t experience a wonderful family time. Now, as an adult, the way I look at Christmas is totally different. Now, this is the time I just want to survive and move on to the next chapter. Is it a good approach? Probably not, but at this point, I’m not sure what else can I do.
To get more positive than negative experience from that Holiday, I just go on the search for holiday decorations and take pictures. Because why not to do something that makes me happy and just “survive” Christmas the best way I can.
What was your way of “surviving” or enjoying Christmas/Holidays this year?
*instead of Christmas, you can insert any holiday you celebrate.
