That’s it! It seems that some people believe that “grass is greener” somewhere else but not where they are. For many years I believed in that as well and just few years ago I learned that it’s not true. Everything depends on how we look at it, it depends on our perception.
Winter is almost over and many people are looking forward to warm days of Spring. I get it but living here in Phoenix area it means that hot and hotter days are approaching. Everything depends on the location, right? The East Coast is looking forward to the Spring and Summer and states on the South know what’s going to happen soon – temperatures over 115F all day long.
Recently I read that we haven’t had any rain since the end of January (now is March 15th) and I mean zero, zip, zilch, nada in the way of rain from Phoenix area. According to Phoenix National Weather Service records it only happened twice – 1972 and 1984. For people living here we are looking forward to few drops of rain but it seems nothing is going to happened till the end of the month.
And here is another perspective: winter and early spring is the time when many people are visiting Arizona. So for visitors, no rain, sunny and warm days that’s what counts the most. Everything depends on perception. If I decide to visit Northern states during winter time I would think how great the snow looks like, etc. But then again it’s a short visit and I can enjoy the weather. On the other hand just thinking about living in cold snow weather for few months makes me feel uncomfortable.
Wherever we go, often we think that’s the new place is better than our own. Maybe grass is greener somewhere else but at the same time it’s worth making sure and appropriate what we have right here, in our back yard.
